The Space Needle is truly a tourist attraction. How do I know? Because, in all of the years I grew up and lived in the Seattle area, I never once went to the Space Needle. Nor did anyone I knew. My younger sister still has never been up it.
However, I have now been up to the top of the Space Needle three time since moving away. I am now one of the tourists who fork over outrageous amounts of money just for the privilege of a short elevator ride to the top. It cost $45.00 for the kids and I to go up there! I wasn't kidding when I said that was just for the elevator ride! Once up there, the view is gorgeous, of course. There is a little snack shop up there that charges an arm and a leg for even the littlest item.
As you walk around to see the 360* view, there are stations to read about what you are looking at. There are also a few of these contraptions that you see Will playing with. It is a live feed camera that can be controlled with the joysticks on the control panel. Will had lots of fun maneuvering the camera.
A view of Puget Sound and Seattle's waterfront. See the ferry?
Helena with the Seattle skyline behind her. Notice the safety precautions to prevent anyone from falling/jumping off the Needle?
