Are you seriously going to share that HERE?!

Today on the way home from work I stopped at Walkers to get Icees for myself and the kids. I do this often enough that the manager knows to pull out one of those drink holders whenever he sees me come in.

Today, while waiting in line to pay for my treats, an elderly man ahead of me struck up a conversation with a young man he knew on acquaintance. While they were talking, a third man overheard their conversation (about the young man's grandfather pulling out of the mayoral race) and decided to join it. He then went on to spill highly personal and damaging information about himself to the entire convenience store crowd! (Something about his ex-wife and assault charges brought against him and unfair treatment? I still don't know what all of this has to do with the young man's grandfather's mayoral aspirations.)

I mean, SERIOUSLY?!

First of all, whatever possessed the man to butt into someone else's conversation? The older gentleman and the younger obviously knew one another, but the third man knew neither of them! There was no reason whatsoever to interrupt them.

Secondly, I would NEVER share such personal information with anyone except close relatives in a VERY private setting! Nothing could tempt me to expose myself or my family in such a way.

Which brings me to another topic... those extremely annoying 1/2 conversations we are all forced to endure at the gas station, in the grocery store, or anywhere else that self absorbed people feel they can't possibly unplug themselves and give us some peace. Talk about exposing! How many times have you overheard snippets of conversation that you felt really should have been kept private? I feel embarrassed for them since they don't have the sense to feel embarrassed for themselves. My friends and family might get slightly annoyed at me from time to time for failing to answer my phone when I am in a store, but I think they would probably appreciate me NOT sharing their conversation with the world.

Call me old-fashioned, if you like.

Yep, you're old-fashioned. And that's why I like you. :)
