October

Here we are at the beginning of another month! I celebrated by selecting a new background for my blog. I hope you like it. If not, well, there will be a new look in 31 days! I actually find it fun to change out my blog background fairly often (you probably didn't notice). I had a hard time moving away from my September background, however, because I thought it was so pretty. Never fear. I have the codes all saved in a Word file on my laptop, so old backgrounds will reappear from time to time.

Will had a lacrosse game today. It was a North County vs. South County game. Actually, it was a Pleasant Grove (with Will thrown in) vs. Mapleton (with a Lehi guy thrown in) game. PG and Mapleton have coaches for this age group and are really gung-ho. We aren't so lucky.

This fall lacrosse league was a big disappointment because Will's team was lackluster and no-show. There were 7 boys on the roster, but only 2-4 boys would show up on any given game day. There were no practices and there was no coach. Coaches are volunteers, and you need a parent to basically step up and take the roll. That is why the PG and Mapleton teams are so awesome. They have some excellent coach/parents. There weren't any parents stepping up for our team. This left us playing scrimmages by sharing players over from the other team and playing a version that has no goalies.

I know. You are saying, "Why didn't YOU step up and coach, then?"

I am the mom. He doesn't want me to be his coach.

Besides. I know next to nothing about this game! I think you have to at least know the positions and the rules to be able to coach.

Anyway, back to tonight's game. We won, but we sure played dirty! At least, that it what it seemed like when you see how many times the refs send your players to penalty box and the parents from the other side are screaming 'foul' every few plays.

I should say one parent screamed. She has been obnoxiously loud all fall. Bill knew instantly who we were playing solely based on hearing her yelling from the sidelines. Once last week her son yelled back at her from mid game, 'It's not as easy as it looks, mom!' That got the refs on the next field over laughing and talking about her. That is how loud she is.
