The day before the first day of school

This is the day I wish I could be home with my kids. It is the last day of summer for them. I have been back to work since Monday and they have been entertaining themselves however they can for the last 3 days of summer.

Helena has found ways and means to go to friends' houses every day. She went to Wendy's with her friend, Kim. She went to the High School end of summer pool party. Just having a great time.

Will has stayed home making messes and playing video games. He also rode his bike all over the place. Today I came home at 7:30 after my school's back to school night to discover that Will was not home, and no one seemed to know where he was. Grrrr. He had left a message on my voicemail that he would be at a particular friend's house, but when I called there I was told that he had not been there for several hours! I thought that perhaps he could be at scouts. Finally he came bursting in the door in swim trunks and a towel saying, "sorry, sorry, sorry!"

He had been at the pool. Hmm.

Today there were nearly 75 new registrations at my school! Talk about putting it off until the last minute. That puts the school population back up to nearly 1100 students. This is despite a new school opening up nearby to take the pressure off. They just keep building new schools out there and it doesn't seem to even make a dent! It is just incredible!
